make ribbon blender vacuum capable

(OP)
I am needing to convert an open top ribbon blender to vacuum duty.  This blender is to be used for food duty and vacuum capability will allow us to vacuum convey the  ingredients into it.

I have contacted the blender manufacturer and they can't help me without a serial number (which is long gone).

It is 20" radius x 8'long (80 cu ft) and built for stout (1/4" thickness).

It is basically a cylinder laid on its side with the top half removed, then four straight side walls extending up a couple feet.

There is a shaft with blending ribbons attached, but the only thing affecting the "tank" part would be the holes in the ends where the shaft exits the tank through the holes (and the packing glands).

I figure some 3/8" stainless plate with a radius and some 1/2" flanges would make a fine "lid".

I may also weld some 1/4" x 2" angle where the half cylinder meets the straight wall to stiffen that part of the "tank".

Any comments or suggestions?
