Combing layers?

Combing layers?

Combing layers?

(OP)
I have two drawing, lets call them elct1 and mech1. The elect1 drawing has several layers which will be used on future drawings, mech1 also has several layers that will be used on future drawings. I need to be able to produce a drawing (eventually to be saved as a template) that contains all the layers of elect1 and mech1. Is thers a way I can combine all the layers into one drawing.
Any assistance would be most useful.
Thanks.

RE: Combing layers?

Well, a trick answer is,
just insert one trawing as block into the other and then delete the block.
Layers remain.
