Solidworks Crashes
Solidworks Crashes
(OP)
I have a Dell Dimension XPS T450 computer running Win98. I have 256 MB Ram currently installed and a 3dfx Voodoo 3000 Graphics card. When I have been working in solidworks99 v313 for a while my system resources get eaten up, until inevitably I have a system crash. Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to prevent these crashes?

RE: Solidworks Crashes
1) Specify the Virtual Memory settings to a minimum of 3 times your RAM and a maximum of 4 times your RAM (min 768, max 1024)
2) The Voodoo3 3000 card is posted on the SolidWorks website as having an issue similar to what you describe. The way to avoid this is to decrease the "Hardware Acceleration" in Control Panel, System, Device Manager, Graphics. At least until 3dfx comes out with new drivers to address the issue.
3) I don't know if this is applicable to you, but Windows NT is much more stable than Windows 98. Especially when considering a memory intensive program such as SolidWorks. Windows NT is proven to be a much better resource manager.
I hope you find this helpful!!!
RE: Solidworks Crashes
usually when running solidworks i exit the program and re-enter
to "reboot" my memory.

Either way, IGES is probably the file format of choice for this, or STEP.
