Exergy or Available Energy analysis

Exergy or Available Energy analysis

Exergy or Available Energy analysis

(OP)
Dear all...

Just a general question... for plant performance evaluation... have you seen use, or do you use the "exergetic efficiency"?

So far, the industry practice is to measure the plants in terms of output, heat-rate, and thermal efficiency... but what about exergy (available energy)?

Opinions? Experiences?
gracias.

RE: Exergy or Available Energy analysis

There have been many european papers which were published at the "ECOS" conferences which make use of exergy analyses to optimize power cycles and process plant equipment.

RE: Exergy or Available Energy analysis

There is an interesting article titled A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO ENERGY ACCOUNTING by Kenneth E. Nelson in the ChE issue of Sep. 1994, that although it doesn't refer to exergy or available (or useful) work, enables to assess the relative value of various energy sources used in a plant.

Buena suerte.
