2005 SP1.1 Multi-Body Part Problem

2005 SP1.1 Multi-Body Part Problem

2005 SP1.1 Multi-Body Part Problem

(OP)
I tried making a part & then place a single line sketch on one face. Then cut-extrude (thin) that sketch & split the part - keeping both bodies. It won't do it anymore. I did it countless times with 2004. I talked to my tech support & he told me it'd work with SP1.1 (I was on SP0.1 at the time). so, I updated to SP1.1 - same problem. I try the split feature & 6 to 8 seconds after clicking on it... Solidworks dumps on me - unhandled error. I can still do multi-body parts - so I can model each half from a seperate sketch & extrusion - but it should work the first way too.

Didn't find anything with a search here either...

Surely, I'm not the only one - or am I?

BTW - I'm going to e-mail my tech support also - but I know I'll get good advice here  - probably faster.

RE: 2005 SP1.1 Multi-Body Part Problem

Is it just unique to this part or does it do it with any part you try? I just did a split feature last night with no problem.

I have just tried doing as you described and had no problems. Although I used a plain rectangle block to split.

I just tried it on another PC with the same SP & it worked fine. So there's something screwy with my installation. I think I'll re-install everything. I just want to make sure it's not a setting that I need to re-set.

... so it's not unique to this part - seems to be unique to this installation - though.

RE: 2005 SP1.1 Multi-Body Part Problem

Shut down all Solidworks file. Go to tools / options/ and under system and maybe performance, Check "Software OpenGL". Now try it your part. If it works now, then your problem is video card related.

Tried the registry hack - didn't help.
Un-loaded & cleaned all the program files off my hard drive - then re-installed. Same thing happened with SP0.0. Installed SP1.1 - still the same. I'm stumped. I'll just work around it for a while.
