Power transformer with different frequency rating
Power transformer with different frequency rating
(OP)
Can we use a power transformer 50 Hz on a 60 Hz network
Transformer primary voltage ( 26-30-34)kV, secondary voltage 0.4 kV.
Network voltage 36 kV, 60 Hz
Transformer primary voltage ( 26-30-34)kV, secondary voltage 0.4 kV.
Network voltage 36 kV, 60 Hz

RE: Power transformer with different frequency rating
If you want about 400 V, you have to connect to the 34 V primary. You would then get about 424 V secondary if the internal voltage drop remained constant. Since your Uk will be about 20 percent higher, I guess that your full load voltage will be 415 - 420 V. Be warned that your idling voltage will be on the high side.
Your losses will increase slightly due to more magnetization losses and more eddy current losses. They increase with frequency.
