Printing problems

Printing problems

(OP)
Have run into a printing problem that I hope someone can help with.  We received a set of drawings from a customer that they wanted us to finish dimensioning, and then use as a template to match their drafting standards.  Our AcadLT 2000 is set to pull ctb files off of our network server, so they are all stored in the same place, and everyone uses the same ones.  But when we go to print one of the drawings that they sent us, it defaults to their page setup and plotting;  On the plot device tab, for ctb options, it only lists "none".  Cannot find a way to get it to list our plotting flies.  Is this a setting somewhere?  I had assumed it was "plot with plot styles" on the plot settings tab, but that didn't do it.

Ok, a bit more info on this one, I actually had a minute to look into it, instead of passing along what I was told, and it looks like it is defaulting to an stb file instead of a ctb.  Is there any way to get it to use a ctb instead?

RE: Printing problems

type "config" and then select the plotting tab and then select "Use color dependant plot styles".

Thanks for the tip, but it didn't seem to work.  Autocad prefs are already set to use color dependant plot styles. And, that does work correctly for any new drawings that we create.  The problem we're running into only occurs in drawings that our customer sent to us.  Is there a setting somewhere in each drawing that forces it to look for a stb instead?  That seems to be what I need to change, if that's available.

RE: Printing problems

I'm having the same problem. It seems to be something in the drawing, but only some of the drawings that I have sent to different markets and received back. I've read every inch of the AutoCAD Command References and nothing seems to work. Have you had any luck finding a solution?

RE: Printing problems

Have you looked at system variable PSTYLEMODE?  It has something to do with using "color dependent" styles.

RE: Printing problems

That's probably it. I checked a good drawing vs. an incorrigible one and one is set at 1 the other at 0. However when I tried to change it (read-only) is after the setting and I can't change it. Any idea on how to get around that?

RE: Printing problems

Check the Migration Assistant ReadMe file. I believe ther it descibes commands CONVERTCTB and CONVERTPSTYLES.  I don't have R2000, don't know if these are standard commands or you have to load something with migration asssistant.  Good luck!

RE: Printing problems

I had the same problem. It had to with the title block. If I turned off the title block layer it would print but not with it on. I saved the drawing as a new file name and it printed fine. I still do not know why it worked. But it did.
Hope this helps.

RE: Printing problems

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Oh, and by the way THANK YOU!
CONVERTPSTYLES was the ticket.
Did I say thank you?
