Aws d1.1 - Procedure qualification for carbon to stainless

(OP)
I understand that AWS D1.1 does not list stainless steel as an approved base metal but if you qualify the procedure does it allow you to use this code?  If not, is there an AWS Code that allows welding carbon steel to stainless?

Thanks for any help.

RE: Aws d1.1 - Procedure qualification for carbon to stainless

AWS D1.6 provides for stainless steel base metal to carbon or low alloy steel and ferritic stainless steel combinations.

Go to the structural link and search for AWS Structural Welding Code – Stainless steel
