large deflections button "ON" in buckling analysis

large deflections button "ON" in buckling analysis

large deflections button "ON" in buckling analysis

(OP)
I'm getting an error when I turn the large deflections button in the solution "ON".  (the error says "large deformation effects are not valid for the current analysis")

Since I'm performing a buckling analysis, it seems necessary to have this button on.  Has anyone worked with this sort of problem before?

RE: large deflections button "ON" in buckling analysis

If you're getting this error then I assume you're carrying out an eigenvalue buckling analysis (ANTYPE,BUCKLE). This is a linear analysis and hence non-linear geometry (NLGEOM,ON) is definitely NOT valid here. If you're carrying out a non-linear buckling run (ANTYPE,STATIC) then, yes, you should turn on non-linear geometry effects.

Cheers,
