Impact testing required or not

Impact testing required or not

(OP)
I need your help.

Plate Material : 1) SA 516 Gr 70 (Normalized)
Thickness : a) 19 mm and b) 12.5 mm
Minimum design temparature : Minus 50 Deg. F

Is impact testing is require for 1a and 1b.

Your help will be appreciated.

RE: Impact testing required or not

If you look at UCS 66 the 19mm would require impact testing. The 19mm is good to -42F and the 12.5mm is good to -55F

If you do not want to inpact test you could apply the rules of UCS 68 (c) and UCS 66 (c). Hope this helps
