How to create? I have seen part, where it's used, but what tool does that? Rib?

RE: Single rib feature

Can you be more specific/clearer?
What type of rib, for what?

No, but I could send you example file...

RE: Single rib feature

Check out Help > Solidworks Help Topics > Index type in rib. Lots of explicit information and examples in that section.

& all the best.

I know all that... But this little thing here looks different - like when you take sheetmetal and by stamping (stamp hammer) deform it - you will get like "mold" in this piece of sheetmetal. And this "mold" feature is called "single rib" here in feature tree! Ah, would be better to show...

RE: Single rib feature

Make a JPG or GIF of your model (or a "printscreen") and post it at http://imageshack.us/

Then you can reference it in a post here using their "Direct link to image" path, which would be something like:-

& all the best.

CorBlimeyLimey - I uploaded it, take a look!

RE: Single rib feature

Ahhh, that type of Rib, ... "a picture speaks a thousand words" ... OK ... go to Tools > Feature Pallette > Pallette Forming Tools > Ribs & drag & drop the Single Rib onto your sheet metal part. You may have to edit the sizes to suit your needs.

& all the best.

RE: Single rib feature

Yep, thanks! (I already found the same solution in the meantime...) But is it possible to use single rib at 45° (remember - plane3?) Or I have to create new single rib or...?

RE: Single rib feature

You will not be able to use the Rib feature across a bend. See Thread559-110543. The Rib feature needs to be placed on a flat surface ... a plane cannot be used.

You will have to create the bend stiffening rib using regular SW features (not sheet metal). Take note though, that the sheet metal "flatten" function will not flatten the ribs.

& all the best.

Clear. Finito. Thanks again!

RE: Single rib feature

You can build it yourself, but not as a single sheetmetal feature.  I've done that before with the same sort of application for light-weight strength.

In this case, you could use a sweep to create what you need.
