Surface Area of a Vessel

Surface Area of a Vessel

Surface Area of a Vessel

(OP)
Hi there,

Does anyone know how to calculate the wetted surface area of a partially filled horizontal vessel with elliptical heads i.e. not hemispherical ends?

Your help would be appreciated.

RE: Surface Area of a Vessel

I found a table in "Perry's" a while ago. It has all the formulae for different head types. If you have a copy of the design prints, they sometimes have the areas listed. A final option would be to ask your vessel supplier. Are you calculating heat transfer coefficents?
Mike
