Cloning PROM Validation

Cloning PROM Validation

Cloning PROM Validation

(OP)
Are there any standards which detail validation testing for cloned PROMs?
We have master PROMs, which were validated when they were created.  We are going to create a number of clones and read their checksum to validate that they were copied correctly.  Are there any standards which require more testing to be performed?

RE: Cloning PROM Validation

Is there some reason to suspect a problem?

A checksum is, of course, a very crude test.  If you really need to very correctness, the only way is to download the contents of the clone and do a byte by byre comparison.

There is no reason to suspect a problem.  The master copy PROMs were fully validated when they were created, which was a long and costly test, but now the test equipment is more than 25 years old.
We can validate the checksum and perform functional testing but I would not be following any known standard.  I was wondering if there are any standards for validating cloned PROMs.

RE: Cloning PROM Validation

A bit-image comparison is all that's normally required

RE: Cloning PROM Validation

The only standards would be inhouse quality assurance programs, which vary greatly. Not only do you want an image compare, but you'll want to make sure your electrical specs are as intended, in regards to timing and float impedance. Consider that if you are inserting your devices into older circuits, it may be asked to sink many times more than what it is capable.
