Mating the balls in a bearing to the inner race?

Mating the balls in a bearing to the inner race?

What is the best way to mate the balls to the groove of inner race so that when I spin the inner race the balls go with it?  Because the outer race should not spin I did a "fix" instead of "float" for it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated,

You might try using a sketch to establish the relationship, them mate the rolling elements to the sketch.

If you are going to that much trouble to make the motion realistic, you should mate the balls and retainer to the inner race with a gear mate because the balls actually rotate around the bearing at half the speed of the inner race.

I am trying the gear mate but SW does not allow the selection of the balls from the Feature Manager Tree after selecting the axis of rotation.  Suggestions??

I haven't tried that yet, but you may need to add a circular sketch within your balls on your "front" view plane to give the mate something to work with (circle at the diameter of the ball).

How could you deal with the spin-to-roll ratio? Can you design-table the two gear mates? Or can your sketch be on the actual ball axis of rotation rather than the assembly axis?

I haven't had a chance to try it but what happens if you only put one ball in and mate it to the plane of the inner race (as Scott suggests) then do a component pattern for the remaining balls.  I am not sure how well that will animate.
