Lift check valve or wafer check valve

Lift check valve or wafer check valve

Lift check valve or wafer check valve

(OP)
In my company specification, bolted cap lift check valve shall be used for line size 2" or less. A vendor propose to use wafer disc check valve for vertical up flow.

I understand that wafer disc check valve is not suitable for gas sevice. However, I do not have reference for back up. Should I reject this proposal.

I try to see the thread belows. However, no discussion about lift check valve.

Types of valves and their usage?

RE: Lift check valve or wafer check valve

I don't think you will get a reference to not using these valves in the vertical position.
Some but not all style wafer disc check valves are used in gas service.  We use a lot of this type valve in the vertical position both in the hard seat and soft seat versions.

Come back with a little more information about your particular application.

unclesyd,
Our application is flare line. The check valves will be install at downstream of the sampling stations. The flare header always operate near atmospheric pressure. Normally we select piston check for small size of valves. In our case, the line size is NPS 3/4. However, the valve is recommended to install in horizontal line.

Bolted bonnet spring check may be suitable for this application. However, we have to find the ex-stock valves for urgent delivery.

Wafer check valve is not mentioned in our company's standard. Therefore, I have to study more before select wafer check valve.

I appreciate your comment.
