2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

(OP)
I heard a rumor that the next SP would be out by Feb 11th, which is today. However it is not available for download. Does anyone know when the offical release will be? Or do the solidworks programmers only know?

Best Regards,
Jon

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

(OP)
I guess you have a good point. They have til midnight I guess. Is the SP going to be 1.1 or 1.0? On the SW website it tells users that it is 1.0 when you look up (next sp) for 2005 in the SPR List and Lookup Section.

Jon

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

Wow! I bet when the 18th rolls around they will say that it won't be out until the 28th.

Did you get a reason why the delay in this SP release?

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

Should we start a lottery on the release date?

Be patient ... better for it be late & working, than on time & cause more problems than it fixes. That's easy for me to say ... I'm still running SW04/SP2.1

& all the best.

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

I got Feb 32nd!

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

I'm beggining to suspect that time to release it's not proportional to quality or bug free SP. This is, in fact, a sign of big mess and I'm not confident enough to install SP1.0 or 1.1 or whatever SP they will release. I predict problems.

The worse is that, one of these days, management will ask me why I'm still running on SW2004, why I have payed for something that it's unusable.

Regards

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

I think SW 2004 should have stayed off the market, and SW should have spent two years developing SW2005 from SW2003.

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

Unusable??? It may not be 100% suitable for your purpose, but I hardly think that makes it an unusable product. I have not used it, but from what I've read in this forum, most people are OK with it, even if it does have more than its share of bugs.

& all the best.

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

I was able to download SP1.0 using my S/N that is signed up for EV, but not with another S/N.

Now I am curious about what Scott meant by 1.1?

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

I have followed all of the posts on SP1.0/1.1 closely and I am very surprised that more users are not demanding better support from Solidworks. TheTick was spot on when he said that they should put more time into stability and reliability rather than throwing all of these novelty features at the users. We pay good money for maintenance and quite frankly it's none existent at the moment.

Solidworks are more than eager to call and email months in advance for their fees, but when it comes to putting up the goods they have fallen way short of the mark recently. My renewal is not due until the end of March and I have been receiving calls and emails now to make my payment for 6 weeks. I think that the right thing for them to do would be to start refunding the fees for this year because we still haven’t got what we paid for yet.

I design injection molded and die cast products along with associative tooling and recently I have been wrapping $ bills around the work that I hand over to my customers. I use a large portion of the functionality available in Solidworks and I could create everything that I design now in the 2003 software with none of the delays. I am spending around 20% additional time on my projects in 2005 due to system crashes, lock-ups and rebuild errors.

The bottom line is that Solidworks is slower than ever before and if Solidworks are serious about keeping their number one slot then they need to get the software performing the way that it should.

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

tvrman ... I assume you have to have SW05 for customer compatability, but if you find SW03 was better & faster, why don't you make your designs & details in SW03, then do a conversion to SW05 for the customer.

I know this doesn't address your support concerns, but hope that this suggestion may help you till M$ & SW get the problems fixed. (If ever).

For the record, I agree that SW should either slow down with the releases and/or have even more "real world" testing, to discover & fix the "bugs", prior to releasing any new version. Then they would not need so many patches.

& all the best.

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

I was just at the subscription area and it looks like SP1.1 is posted.

May need double-checking because I am on EV, but it is noted on the main page now.

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

Servide Pack 1.1 is finally out!
In Solidworks, went to "Help" > "Service Packs" > "Check" and it found it.

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

Yes, it's really there this time.  (I'm not on EV and am downloading 1.1 now.)

Thanks!

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

Here goes!

I was holding off on installing (four seats) until SP1+.  Now I have one week left here before I start my new job.  My new job entails no SW admin responsibilities :)

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

Tick, we'll see how long that lasts if they don't have a CAD Admin...  But I hope you catch a break.

TheTick

Do you mean, in a new company? Good Luck in your new tasks!

To all

It is known that the reason for the delay with this SP (so they say) was an issue with the M$ installer. Now that SP1.1 is released, I was expecting a reference to an M$ patch, but didn't found any. Can I directly install SP1.1 or am I missing something?

Regards

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

The SP1.1 install went fine for me.  However, after updating the help files my help is now in another language!  Downloading again, see what happens.

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

Yes I did that.  Twice!  The file downloaded is: swHelpEnglish.zip.  SolidWorks is in English, the online tutorial shows up in english.  Choose help and I get Spanish or Italian, I don't really know.

Ex: Bienvenido a la Guía del usuario en línea de SolidWorks. Esta ayuda contiene descripciones e instrucciones para todas las operaciones y funciones del software SolidWorks

Nobody else has had this occur?

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

My upgrade to 2005 0.1 was done thru an Admin Image via email. I downloaded SP1.1, but it tells me the admin image has to be upgraded first. The initial email is gone. Does anyone know about this? VAR says to find the admin image! I don't know what it may be called.

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

Your VAR is correct. You ahve to upgrade the admin image on the server first. So who ever installed the Admin image will probably have to upgrade the admin image.

Our VAR did it. I just talked to them, they don't know where it is. IT dept is useless. I will have to do a search.
thanks Scott.

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

To upgrade the admin image does take a long time to install the service pack.

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

I'm about to make the jump.  Anyone else tested the language in the Help files after install to see if the download was OK?  (mreader3D, that language above is Spanish.)

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

I replaced my help files and made sure I selected english before downloading and now my help reads in french.

Did someone else have the same problem?

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

Same here.  Except as Theophilus has mentioned above it's Spanish.  Not a big problem as I really don't need the help files.  I'm sure there will be a patch or a 1.2

well has anyone tried downloading the spanish help file to see if there was a mix up?

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

Still Spanish.  I don't think the problem lies within the help files.  When I open any of the files direct from the swHelpEnglish.exe download they show up in English.  Just when "Help" is launched from SW does it show up in Spanish.

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

the spanish file is the same as the english help file. Just downloaded them both. Can Solidworks just post the correct file on their website for download?

I would really like to have my help file back.

Jon

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

(OP)
the mistake is in the help file called "sldworks.html" it is the only one that is in spanish. And since that is the main help file it makes all the others read in spanish for some reason.

Solidworks needs to know about this and fix it immediately. Mistakes like those should not be tolerated.

Jon

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

If you read my last few posts above it tells you the problem has been fixed already!!!

I didn't want to mention this, but since you can't seem to read my last few posts, I will tell you - I called SW and asked them about it... and they said they have it fixed and you need to simply "Redownload" the SW help file and install it.

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

simple is as simple does. All they have to do is change the "sldworks.html" file.

That is the only file that is in spanish if I open it directly from the zip file that is downloaded.

Jon

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

I believe all understood your post.  I just redownloaded the file again.  I haven't replaced the files but solidworks.chm is still in Spanish.  So it appears not to fixed yet, but I'm sure it will be shortly.

Mark

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

Then call your VAR because that was what SW told me.=

The problem maybe the fact you need to remove all your SW help files and reinstall them with the new DL.

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

If having the Help file is necessary you can download the the Help file for SP0.1, as I doubt not many of the files have changed.

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

I just downloaded the help files, and the problem appears to be fixed.

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

I recieved an e-mail from my var stating that there is a problem with sevice pack 1.1. The problem is with pdmworks. Has anyone else heard that?

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

has anyone who downloaded SP1.1 experienced any problems with drawing files.  After applying SP1.1, when I click on a drawing view, the view properties in the feature manager do not appear automaticaly like they used to.  I have to select the properties tab in order to view them.  Anyone else having this problem?

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

I have SP1.1 and am not experiencing this problem. However, the machine next to me does and has since the clean install ( running SP 0.1). I assume there is a setting that needs to be toggled.

RE: 2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

it did not do this before installing SP1.1.  I have tried to do a backup of my options using the .sldreg file I saved before the update, and it changes nothing.
