Quick area function

Quick area function

Quick area function

(OP)
Hi,
Im trying to find a ArchitecturalDesktop3 equivalent to an AutocadR14+AEC function (MC:DEFINE_AREA NIL) that we use to do a quick sqft sqM calculation of an area.
ArchitecturalDesktop3's area functions are way to convoluted for our use, we dont have any need for grouping.
We just want to define an area or polyline, calculate the area in sqft. or sqM. and place a tag in the drawing.

thanks for any help.

RE: Quick area function

Greenwire,

Folllowing is a quick and dirty lisp to place area in drawing. May need to edit if your text height is predefined -remove one 'pause' from the text command. Starts with 'artag'.
----------------------------------
;;routine to insert tag of polygon's area
(defun c:artag ()
(setvar "cmdecho" 0)
(prompt "\nSelect closed polyline: ")
(command "._area" "o" pause)
(setq a_num (getvar "area"))
(setq a_txt (rtos a_num 2 2))
(princ "\n")
(setvar "cmdecho" 1)
(command "._text" pause pause pause a_txt)
(princ)
)
