Curvic coupling machining

Curvic coupling machining

(OP)
Hello everyone, first timer on this website, but in urgent need of help!
I am currently trying to source a creep feed (or constant dressing) CNC grinder capable of producing a curvic coupling form.
We currently use a ordinary but modified (CNC) grinder from Gleason. I have been tasked to reduce the cycle time of the grinding operation and been asked to look at CNC interpolation grinding of the curvic form using a CNC creep feed grinder.
Two questions:
Firstly is there a machine that is capable.
Secondly has anyone had any experience in achieving the above.
Any help would be grately appreciated.

RE: Curvic coupling machining

I have visited 2 companies that made Curvics for us and both had Gleason machines.   All the machines looked identical, not having made a more than a cursory observation.
I just talked to someone a little more acquainted with our Curvics and his opinion was that neither companies machines had any modifications.   He was reluctant to call as he don’t deal with either company anymore.   Our work is now sent through Gleason by a third party.

Have you called Gleason as there has been an influx of used Gleason Curvic Grinders on the market lately there might have been something new introduced.   It might also pay you to investigate the possibility of a second machine.
