I was wondering if I could get some input on what FEA Software is best suited for Solid Works CAD Software. I also work with honeycomb walls and need an FEA software package that will work with this material.

RE: FEA software best suited for Sold Works and honeycomb walls

I currently use DesignSpace V5.X with SolidWorks and generally found it very easy to use. I carried out a comparison of the same part on ANSYS and DesignSpace, and found the results to be close - the main differences were mainly due to the fact the model had to be greatly simplified for the ANSYS model - fillets etc.

If you are working with thin-walled parts that are very long then DesignSpace seems to have a problem, however, DesignSpace is capable of analysing assemblies.

As far as I know, you are allowed a 30 day trial with DS - might be worth obtaining a CD and seeing what it can/cannot do.

Regards

You may want to also check into Cosmos/Works. Although, I am not sure about honeycomb materials.
