Problem Selecting Arc ACAD 2000

Problem Selecting Arc ACAD 2000

Problem Selecting Arc ACAD 2000

(OP)
Hi All,

I have a drawing in model space and a layout in which I want to add dimensions.

I can select and two points and create a linear dimension. I cannot select any of the arcs in the my drawing. I have checked the properties and they are arcs. I can select the quandrant and centre of the arc for linear dimensions. I can select any of the arcs in model space and create a radial dimension.

I have also noticed that the dimensions do not scale in paperspace, there doesn't seem to be any association.

I have tried changing my selection and snapping options but that doesn't help.

I've never had this propblem before and it seems to be every drawing.

Any ideas?

RE: Problem Selecting Arc ACAD 2000

I'm pretty certain it was a known bug in Acad 2000 ~ not being able to select arcs through paperspace.
I don't think Autodesk really sorted out dimensioning from paperspace (layout tabs) until 2004 with any degree of reliability. I never had 2002 so I can't be certain of that.

RE: Problem Selecting Arc ACAD 2000

We use ACAD 2000 and we have exactly the same bug as you, Fawkes.  It does appear to be a bug in ACAD 2000.  We have heard rumors that later versions of ACAD fixed this bug, but I have no personal confirmation of that.

We discovered this because we just had our engineering department decide to move from using model space to paper space to give us flexibility in our drawing outputs.  We like everything about this move except the but you described.  We are hoping management will approve an upgrade soon.
