Weldments and suppression of individual pieces

Weldments and suppression of individual pieces

Weldments and suppression of individual pieces

(OP)
I have a weldment (.sldprt) and when I try to suppress 2 of the structural members to make a different config. , 2 other unrelated members go with them.  I can suppress other items in the same weldment with no problems.  Is there a way to see if the 2 pieces that I want to suppress are linked in some way to the others that dissappear with them?  The weldment has no welds yet to tie anything together.  Can sketch dimensions tie pieces together maybe?
As always thanks in advance........

RE: Weldments and suppression of individual pieces

Yes, those elements that are being suppressed must be dependent on the parts you are suppressing.

You could hide the parts instead of using suppress--that will eliminate all this.

If you must use the suppress feature, you'll need to mate the dependent parts independently from the parts you're suppressing.  That way, they won't suppress when you suppress the upstream parts.

RE: Weldments and suppression of individual pieces

After a little more digging into the issue, I found that I had a "coincidient relationship" between 2 of the individual sketch entities I was using to determine the path for the weldment profile.  Once I eliminated the coincident relationship (was not needed anyway) the suppression feature worked like I needed it to.  I guess just a mistake on my part, just another learning experience.

Thanks again,
