Industrial/Stationary Engine Forum?

Industrial/Stationary Engine Forum?

Industrial/Stationary Engine Forum?

(OP)
Hi everyone,

I have been watching some of these posts and have enjoyed them.  Sometimes I have answered inappropriately (apologies to Malbaere and Motorsports).

I have noticed however, that the industrial engine world is very different from the auto and motorcycle world.  Do you think it would be beneficial to start an new forum that relates to Industrial/Stationary engines?  Where do you think it should be located?

Thanks in advance for your input.

RE: Industrial/Stationary Engine Forum?

Industrial engines are very much different from automotive engines in how they are constructed and how they are operated. Two examples: (1) our engines have large Timken bearings at each end of the crankshaft instead of sleeve bearings because they take a heavy side loading from belt drives, and (2) the engines spend most of their life running at full throttle whereas part throttle is much more important for automotive.

Regardless, an engine is still an engine and many of the topics covered in this forum apply to both types. I would prefer to stay with one forum.
