Desapate heat for insert mold

I am currently designing a mold that has a pretty good size copper bracket we are overmolding around. Does anyone have any good idea's on how to get the copper not to take the heat away from the plastic when being shot and short shotting or sinks.
Thanks

RE: Desapate heat for insert mold

Was there an overwhelming reason for picking one of the best thermally conductive materials for this bracket?

How about 304 stainless steel?  It's thermal conductivity is less than 1/20th of copper

Not sure why. I think perhaps cost or because of the connector that will be soldered on afterward.

RE: Desapate heat for insert mold

You could, perhaps, preheat the copper

Preheat the copper as already suggested.

Increase melt temp, mould temperature, injection speed and injection pressure to the maximum possible considering other limitations.

Go for an easier flow grade of material.

Go for a slower cycling (ie non nucleated) grade of material.

Increase the section thickness in critical areas to promote flow.

Increase the number of gates.
