Noise monitoring

Noise monitoring

Noise monitoring

(OP)
Folks, I'm assembling & testing small (13L/min, 12V) domestic pumps. Occasionally a whirring noise can be heard from the pumps while on test. Is there an "off the shelf" noise monitor available which would work in an assembly shop complete with the usual ambient noise? Ultimately this would be used to identify if a pump exceeded a given noise (unique acoustic pattern) level, so resulting in a rework cycle.

Thanks
G

RE: Noise monitoring

A number of companies market portable noise/vibration analyzers for use in shop and process plant environments. Two of the more well known units are the CSI-2115 and the DLI Watchman series analyzers. Less expensive types may also be available. Cost depends on how sophisticated you wish to get with the troubleshooting or condition monitoring process.
