I am given 25 wooden sticks (3 x 3 x 600)mm & a glue and these rules :must spen 660 mm and have overall length of  
             700mm
            : maximum width of 150mm
            : maximum height above the support 250mm
            : a 100mm passage way
            :no lamination of mambers (jont must not be  
             more than 6mm

As  part of a 2nd year engineering Lab class for Statics and Strength of Materials.  I had my students design simillar structures.  Your bridge can become quite strong, easily holding up to 127 kg,(280 lb), if it is designed correctly.

Go to this site http://bridgecontest.usma.edu/ 
download the West Point Bridge Designer and start designing and testing bridge designs on your computer.  This will give you a good idea of what works and what doesn't.
