ACAD 2000 Win XP Pro

ACAD 2000 Win XP Pro

ACAD 2000 Win XP Pro

I have  ACAD 2000 installed and 'running'on an XP Pro  machine, however numerous commands yield the following  error:

Example: 'Format Units': '_units Unknown command "UNITS". Press F1 for help.

I've tried Windows 98 Compatibility mode, but this gives FATAL ERROR, and does not work.

This is on my home machine, I am the Administrator with, I assume, Power User and better authority.

Tried adding C:\Program files\Acad2000 to path; no luck.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

RE: ACAD 2000 Win XP Pro

Unknown commands can mean a few things. Either AutoCAD did not load correctly, the menu file that contains the command did not load correctly, the command is redefined, or mistyped command. A few questions, can the command be started from the menu pull downs? Are all menus loaded? (Try loading them manually). Do you have any start up ARX, LISP, or macros running at startup? If these seem OK, try uninstalling and reinstalling. Run as admin through the install, authorize, and then startup ACAD. See what happens. It should work by itself. The only other thing I can think of is to try and use AutoCAD base commands. I am not sure of UNITS, but you may try DDUNITS or _.UNITS or ~UNITS or 'ddunits.

Thanks for the reply.

All attempts to run the unrecognized commands have been through the pull down menus.

UNITS, DDUNITS, _.UNITS, ~UNITS or 'ddunits didn't work.

Manual menu load didn't work either as "APPLOAD" was also unrecognized!

I'll try uninstall/reinstall.

As Homer Simpson says: "Doh!"

When I tried to uninstall Acad I quickly realized I had performed a Windows no-no by copying the ProgramFiles\Acad2000 directory from another HDD!

A true install now works perfectly.

RE: ACAD 2000 Win XP Pro

PTS,

I'm having trouble loading autocad 2000 on my comp. with a OS of XP.... it says it needs 98 and NT. Do you know of a program I could run to get it to load onto my computer????
