Nurbs spline import problems

Nurbs spline import problems

Nurbs spline import problems

(OP)
I am having problems with a NURBS spline I am importing through an IGES file into Pro/E. It is getting distorted by several thousandths of an inch. (Yes it matters, even Mechanical Desktop doesn’t do this.). I have tried changing to absolute accuracy and setting it at 0.0001”. That is better but there is still some limited distortion. The other problem is that Pro adds knots to the curve and the higher the accuracy the more knots it adds. This makes it very hard to edit the curves in Pro.

Does anyone have some experience for preventing this? Are there config settings I am missing? Should I be using a different kind of spline?

TIA

RE: Nurbs spline import problems

HDS, After importing the feature try projecting the curve onto a plane and thru the Sketcher try using "use > edge" and copy the spline. Then break the references to the old spline and lots of points to smooth out or break sketched Spline and removed knots and replace with new spline that is tangent to ends. Kind of like bridging between sketched geometry.
I hope this helps Texaspete

Thanks but I was hoping there was a way to get the import done more accurately.
