Raster Images in AutoCad LT 2005
Raster Images in AutoCad LT 2005
(OP)
For the last few years I've regularly pulled .jpg images of pipeline structures into AutoCad LT (most recently LT 2002) and then sketched design changes directly onto the photograph and drew a CAD design next to it. I've gotten great reviews on this technique from the people doing the fabrications, and even managers find it easy to understand.
I recently "upgraded" to LT 2005 and the "insert raster" option is gone. The closest thing I've found is Insert OLE Object". When I pick a .jpg file in this option, I get a box with "filename.jpg" displayed. If I print, I still get the name of the file instead of the picture.
Am I missing something, or did this "upgrade" simply eliminate an option that I find critical?
I can bring the photo into Adobe Illustrator and then export a .dwg file that LT 2005 can open easily. I'm just trying to avoid this tedius step.

The actual command is:
_imageattach
so type that in and see if it works better.
In full ACAD, you can also just drag and drop out of Explorer; again, I don't know about LT. Try that, only you can't scale the image that way, so I don't think it will be useful for the application you've described.

I'm using the "Insert OLE" drop down to pick a .jpg, so there is no opportunity for my normal "fat finger" mess up. In older versions I've seen the filename.jpg for busted paths, and I don't think that this is what I'm seeing.
Iha,
The "insert raster" command used to be on the "Insert" pulldown, it is gone in 2005. They've also removed the _imageattach command.

here's the trick: 2002?h
or open the image with a viewer and copy it (ctrl+c...) Maybe this is working?
