help please! many questions from a starter that you can answer

help please! many questions from a starter that you can answer

help please! many questions from a starter that you can answer

(OP)
I am a new user to pro/e. I have following questions:

1. config.pro.
There are hundreds of items to be set. How do we know the item we need? Is there anywhere a FULL list showing all settings & it options (like a dictionary) so we can check when in need?

2. Does the Drawing file must be in the same folder as the part?
I made a new drawing from a part. and saved the drawing in another folder. next time when I start pro/e and open the drawing again from 'file' menu which displays the most recent file. but it says error, the part file is not in the folder.

3. When I make a solid part, (NOT drawing!!) I usually starts from sketch. when I mark dimensions on the sketch, the numbers size is so small. Who knows where to set dim size? Is it in the config.pro (or .sup) or in the drawing options(DTL file)?

4. How to set up a drawing frame like fixed drawing sheet/paper size (8.5"x11") and with company logo, date...I only know some setting in DTL file works to the working lines or text size. But I don't know where to set the paper size or drawing frame.

5. Where to set the distance between dimmension? e.g. when I mark a dimeniosn in a drawing. like 1.875", but actually in my screen is something like:  1.  8 7 5 --- that is too much wide.

It is a really headache start but I am very appreciate if anyone who could be kindly help.

Thanks in advance!

Chinan,

The answer to #3 is text_height_factor located in config.pro.  You can read the help file for the settings.  I have mine set at 60.

2. I think there should be a file in your startin directory called search.pro which has the search paths for your parts. I use Intralink and it handles this information for me.

4. Create a format file. It is a special type of file that contains your format layout (can be made from a sketch), Title block table(s) including company logo and revision and BOM tables, if needed.

5. There is a config.pro setting for text width. You can open the config.pro file in Pro/E and do a description search on width and see what it returns.
