Importing logo's

Importing logo's

(OP)
I am finding it difficult and time consuming to build a part and importing a tiff of this part into photoshop to insert a logo onto the part. How could i go about inserting a logo, so that i may be able to extrude or cut extrude the logo?
Any tips and tricks would be greatfully appreciated
Thanks
R

RE: Importing logo's

Use the insert picture feature.  Insert a picture onto a sketch plane.  Once the image is on the plane you can manually trace the image using SW sketch tools.  Once you have the sketch it can be turned into a feature.  www.baren-boym.com also has a utlity to do this automatically if you want to spend a few hundred dollars.  Only other option is to use Photoshop to find the edges of the image then convert the edges to vectors and save as a vector file.  This method doesn't work the best.

RE: Importing logo's

Is your logo in .tiff format also? If you can save the logo as a .dxf or .dwg you can import the sketch entities right onto a sketch plane?

Also what version and SP are you using?

You could also open a sketch and insert a picture of your logo onto that plane. You then have to trace over your logo using SW sketch tools. Then you should be able to extrude or cut your logo into anything you want.

Hope this helps!

Jon
