Interpreting 8502

Interpreting 8502

Interpreting 8502

(OP)
I am looking for some an interpretation of NFPA 8502-99, specifically section 4-1. We are adding a booster fan at a couple of power plant sites and need to specify the maximum pressure to be used in checking the existing ductwork and possibly the boiler itself. We will be higher than the -35 in specified in the code but not sure how to apply 4-1.2.
The code is also vague as to the remedy to be used if we decide to isolate the boiler rather than reinforce. Can controls be used to shut down operation or is a mechanical system (fail safe dampers, etc.) required to meet the code to assure no possible boiler damage?
Can anyone advise or let me know who to contact.
Thanks.
