Array? Offset?

Array? Offset?

Array? Offset?

(OP)
Hey guys,
I have two situations. Autocad 14
1.  When i offset a line and then choose one of the two lines, both them are highlighted.  (Then when i erase the double line, then press undo, only the orginal line reappears.  How can i use the offset a line and they will be to seperate entities when i highlight them?

2.  My second situation is, i'm trying to make parking stripes on a radial parking lot.  Do i offset the face of curb line 18 feet and then use the array command?  If so what is the process of doing that?  And if that's not the most effecient way, what is?

Thanks i would really appreciate, any responses.

RE: Array? Offset?

Juice,
Can't help you on Number 1.  I've seen that happen, I'd guess there is a setting or system variable that is causing your offset line to act like a multiline.
On parking, your stall width can not be less than a width set by local code.  Is 9 feet here.  Depending on the direction of curve, you need to set this width at front or back of stall.  Paint lines should be radial.  So calculate the angle that will give you the reguired width.  Use this angle in a polar array command.

Good luck,
Carl

When do you set the 9 feet?  Or how?

RE: Array? Offset?

Need to calculate total angle to fill before starting array command.  Say you want 20 spaces, 9' along curb, curb has 1000' radius.  Calculate angle for single space:
Ang =w/r=(9/1000)x(180/pi)=0.5157 degrees.

Draw single paint stripe, radial.
Array>>select line>>polar>>select center>>21(21 lines for 20 spaces)>>10.313(angle to fill, 20 x 0.5157), rotate as copied.

Insert your own numbers, otta do it!

RE: Array? Offset?

For your first question, I remember there being a bug or something that did exactly what your are talking about.  I'll see if I can find the info on it.

RE: Array? Offset?

Juice,
Have you tried the Explode command?

i exactly have i don't what's going on

RE: Array? Offset?

For the offset command with strange things happening,
I would turn on a new layer and draw a new line over the
old line.  Turn the new layer off and delete the old line
or lines using the crossing command.  Sometime lines have
z value not equal to .0000 and causes some strange symptoms
like you are experiencing.  I have tried to hatch some enclosed lines and could not hatch them until if asked to
list the individual identities only to fine that they
were not on the same z plane.
