creating holes in the assy workbench

creating holes in the assy workbench

(OP)
I am currently working on an assembly with quite a few parts that need to be mounted to the main baseplate. I try to create the screw holes by using the hole command in the assembly workbench and it tells be to pick a plane or face, but it will not pick anything and nothing happens.

I jumped on my coworkers machine and I was able to create the holes on his machine.

Do I have a setting that is turned off or somthing? Does anybody know how to fix my problem? If so please reply I would appreciate any help that you could offer.

thanks.

itsmyjob,
thanks for the info. I don't wan't to sound like a idiot, but how do I go by doing that?

RE: creating holes in the assy workbench

^^ You have to know where they are stored. They may be local (e.g. documents and settings\username\application data\dassault systemes\...

They may by on your company network.

Run a search for "CATSettings." Delete everything in the folder. Open CATIA, and the default settings (either out-of-the-box or the global settings your administrator has configured) will be restored.

RE: creating holes in the assy workbench

Raindog,

1.  In the assembly mode, double click the partA (which u want to create holes), the screen will bring u to Part design or GSD mode, depend on the geometry. The tree will come up.

2. Right click the PartA in the tree, and a side window will pop up, then choose "DEFINE In Work Object".  A underline will appear below PartA in the tree. It mean partA become a current partbody for u to edit or create new geometry

3. When u save in the assembly mode, the catpart will be updated at the same time.

Hv fun

Johnny
