Multiple BOMs in the same drawing

Multiple BOMs in the same drawing

Multiple BOMs in the same drawing

(OP)
I posted this issue before and jksolid had some good ideas. But I am still having problems.

Just for recap, I want to insert 2 BOMs in the same drawing so that I can group the parts into 2 categories. I need to do this as the parts in one category have different properties than those in the 2nd category. If I put all the parts in one BOM, some parts will have empty row for certain property columns. To be more elegant, I want 2 different BOMs.

I created 2 different Excel BOM templates and inserted BOM twice. It works but both BOMs have the same number of rows. So I have to hide certain rows in them to make them look like I want them to.

Is there a better way to do this? Is there a way that each BOM will show only those parts that have exactly the same  properties that correspond to respective BOM columns?

Thanks

RE: Multiple BOMs in the same drawing

I am not understanding your question too well, but here is what works for me:

I make seperate configurations in my assemblies, each with parts I don't want listed hidden. I then make one view from each configuration, and hide all the parts shown in these (making blank views.) Using the same Excel BOM template, I insert a BOM linked to each view. So I have (many) BOM's with different parts listed.

I do these configurations for machined parts, sheetmetal parts, stock parts, purchased components, etc. so I can have one full exploded view, but the BOMs are all linked to blank views attached to configurations to divide them...
