Concrete Software Programs

Concrete Software Programs

(OP)
Our structural engineering department is looking for a good concrete design program.  I am 3 years out of college and have not been introduced into a concrete software program, however I am leading the task for finding one.

Can I get some thoughts on particular programs that would be of benefit for flat slabs (one-way, two-way), drop panel, and even concrete joist slab designs?  Currently we own a program called Adoss that is not beneficial for large scale projects.  Any information on this topic that could point me in the right direction would be great.

Thanks,

csm

Check at ACI's web site or the cement association's web site.

RE: Concrete Software Programs

RAM Concept can design most of your requirements.

RE: Concrete Software Programs

csm04,

The Portland Cement Association

http://www.cement.org/

has some interesting program:

pca-mats; pca-column; pca-beam; pca-wall; pca-slab; pca-frame

All of them for design or revision of elements.

If you are looking for analysis and design for whole structures one of them may be:

Research Engineers International with the program staad-pro

I would suggest ADAPT-RC and ADAPT-PT, which would design the majority of the beams and slabs quite well. I would recommend RAM Concept if you plan on designing a lot of elevated flat slabs.

RE: Concrete Software Programs

The RAPT program by Prestressed Concrete design Consultants will do all of this for you plus column design.

RC, PT, pretensioned and Partially Prestresseed members can all be analysed and designed.

RE: Concrete Software Programs

I would go with RamConcept as well.

However, I recommend getting together a couple of potential software titles and contact each of the developers.  They will give you a short-term license or a limited capacbility package for you to try out.  There is no use in spending a lot of money on a long-term license  on software that you may find does not meet your needs.
