Thermal Conducting Material

Thermal Conducting Material

Thermal Conducting Material

(OP)
Hi

I am looking for a very low density material which has high thermal conductivity.

I have seen a imported low density microporous material , i am unable to identify the type of material.

Can u give me list of materials which meets above specification.

Thanking You
John

RE: Thermal Conducting Material

Sounds like it might be graphite foam.  Pretty cool stuff, very light, very conductive.  I helped develop some heat sinks with it.  It was difficult (=expensive) to machine the shape we wanted and can be quite fragile, but for some applications it's great.  Here's a few links:

There are some metal foams also.  I have seen Cu.  But I can't find the web site today....

Corrosion never sleeps, but it can be managed.

RE: Thermal Conducting Material

Bergquist has a line of materials called "Gap Pad" which is a very conformable material with good thermal conduction properties.

If you are looking for something rigid and machineable try Graphite. Look for a company called "Graftech" (www.graftech.com). Graphite is light and has thermal properties near to Copper. But it's expensive!.

RE: Thermal Conducting Material

i am doing research on drag reduction nanofluids(heat conduction nanofluids) and its application in tribology.can anyone of u help me in this regard.

Thanking you
