More Turning Radius questions! Horse Trailers

More Turning Radius questions! Horse Trailers

(OP)
I need to layout an area where horse trailers will be travelling, parking, etc.

Which standard vehicle comes closest to the largest possible trailer?  I have seen many horse trailers and they can get quite large.

I'm playing right now with the AASHTO templates for WB-40, SU (single unit truck), and P-T (passenger car and trailer).

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks.

RE: More Turning Radius questions! Horse Trailers

KThompson -

As a civil engineer AND a horse hauler I hope you had more then this response to your question!

Many horse haulers are now using big rigs - not just a 2 horse bumper pull and truck.  My trailer is a 36' on the floor gooseneck on an extened cab truck - I needed AASHTO's Exhibit 2-14 WB-15 to lay out my driveway.

There are also Motor Home/Trailer combos, as well as semi-haulers.  WB-40 is probably a safe bet.  You can never have too much room for turning.

Is this for a paved parking area or gravel?  Show folks or a campsite??

I'd lvoe to know how it turns out!

Thank you.
