Adding a stripe to a model

Adding a stripe to a model

Adding a stripe to a model

(OP)
I need to add a color stripe to soem trays I designed. Normally it wouldn't be something I'd model, but this customer is requesting it. It's basically an offset stripe to identify the tray. (Picture Herbie the love bug as a shippign container.)
Texture doesn't work the way I need it to. About the only thing i can think of would be to create another solid offset from this one in the width i need and color it the color I need. This would be very time consuming.
Normally, I'd just mark up a print and fax it to him for approval.

RE: Adding a stripe to a model

What about using a split line to divide the face?

RE: Adding a stripe to a model

I'd go the split line route lick the tick suggested.

RE: Adding a stripe to a model

With the Split Line, you can assign different materials, colors, textures, etc. for the differing surfaces.  I often do this with simple text decals or pad printing areas for rendering in PhotoWorks.
