mixed flow compressor

mixed flow compressor

mixed flow compressor

(OP)
i m designing a mixed flow compressor
for which data is as follows.
mass flow rate requied : 2.73 kg/s (medium Air)
total to static pressure ratio required : 3.8 (single stage)
min total to static efficiency : 0.85
inlet stagnation pressure : 101325 N/m2
inlet stagnation temperature : 288.15 K

plz guide me about the diffuser design for the same
note that diffuser will not be purely radial or axial
it is a curved diffuser.
hope someone is there with good advice.

RE: mixed flow compressor

kapilvp,

generally, the responsible engr determines process conditions, that is inlet and outlet conditions (i.e. flow, pressure, temperature, etc.) for the fluid, and forwards the data to a compressor mfg whom will appropriately size and recommend a compressor to meet conditions. the responsible engr then ensures that the compressor meets the process conditions and evaluates other components of the compressor as well.

the design of inlet diffusers is generally up to the compressor mfg (designer), unless the conditions warrant a specific design.

i trust this helps.

good luck!

pmover,

thank you.

infact the conditions require a specific design as i m working for a mfg (designer). so, i have to design an impeller and a diffuser for mentioned conditions. impeller i have completed, but i m not getting enough literature for mixed flow compressor diffuser design.
