Dear Friends,

After having an unsuccessful efforts in finding solution of my problems related to Project Link from PTC Customer support, I am looking towards you all.

I am using WindchillProjectLink 7.0, Build M010. Has anyone successfully tried the COSTING part of Project Planning?

If yes, I will like to put some problems that I am facing.

Thanks

Amish

RE: Windchill Project Link

Has someone has experience of doing Cost Tracking using Windchill ProjectLink?

1. There is no provision in the "Type of Resources" for putting the cost of "Hardware" & "Software" that also behave in the same manner as the resource type "Person". 2. Alternatively, if we put these resources under the resource type "Person", the total of 8 hours of effort of each Hardware, Software and the Person operating these are divided equally among the three. Instead, the cost should have been calculated for 8 hour operation of each of the three. 3. Is there a provision of putting a central pool of resources with their hourly or per use cost defined. This will eliminate the need of putting the cost of each resource in every project. This is very helpful in updating the cost of all the running projects in case there is a change in the usage cost of a common resource.

What we want to essentially do is to calculate cost of any activity based on
        - manpower cost / hr
        - machine cost /hr
        - infrastructure cost /hr utilized to complete any one specific activity during the total duration of the activity . These costs to be centrally stored (& not project based). The cost to be calculated based on these cost/hr & the time taken to complete the activity which in any case is calculated based on start & finish dates.
