PE Civil (Structural) & PE Structural I Exam Review Material
PE Civil (Structural) & PE Structural I Exam Review Material
(OP)
While teaching a PE review course last year, several students asked how to get AFFORDABLE reference material for wood. The exams are based on the National Design Specification for Wood Construction (the 2001, ASD edition for the April 2005 exam).
One answer is the USDA Forest Products Lab "Wood As An Engineering Material" (free .pdf download) at
http ://www.fpl .fs.fed.us /documnts/ fplgtr/fpl gtr113/fpl gtr113.htm
However, here is the best answer that I have been able to find:
The 1997 NDS Wood Construction Commentary (free .pdf download) at
http://www.awc.org/Standards/ndscommentary.html
Of course this 1997 Edition is not 100% up to date, but it does a good job on the basics.

RE: PE Civil (Structural) & PE Structural I Exam Review Material
To get the differences beteween the 1997 & 2001 editions, you can go here
http://
With the addition of "Overview of Changes to 2001 NDS" (free .pdf download) you are getting a "reasonable approximation" of the basis for the referenced PE exams.
