Help - Solidworks Document Control

Help - Solidworks Document Control

Help - Solidworks Document Control

(OP)
We are a small mechanical engineering office (approximately 10 users) who are in the beginning stages of impementing Solidworks.  Currently we are using SDRC I-Deas, which has a built in document control.

I've breifly investigated PDM Works, but the information on the net is limited.

Can anyone provide feedback on PDM Works, or suggest other engineering document control software packages which would be optimal for small engineering groups.

Thanks in Advance

RE: Help - Solidworks Document Control

Run a search as Scott suggested. We use PDMWorks. It works well for us. We have about 20 users. It takes a little time to get use to, but is worth it.

Ditto, PDM is priceless.  It's a no brainer, and I've seen both aspects of it.

(being using PDM and SW for a long time now, and SDRC for 7 yrs before that....)

RE: Help - Solidworks Document Control

I work at a company ...100 associates.
typical sales r&d logistics production OEM type firm.
We use PDMWorks not only for Solidworks (which it handles beautifully), but for all vaultable documentation.  We've used it for about a year without a single hitch.

RE: Help - Solidworks Document Control

I did not get any hits on pdmworks either.

Did pdmworks require extensive customization to achieve any / all objectives?
I am refering to issues such as release notification procedures / ownership issues / document viewing, ECN management, etc.

Thanks

Jeff

RE: Help - Solidworks Document Control

jrmartin,
You need to talk to your reseller. If you buy SW office professional, it comes with PDMWorks. You can also purchase seats as a standalone. There is even a web add-on for people to view the file within your company.

PDMWorks is a wonderful thing, and is a must for companies running more than 2 seats.

Good luck with your quest!
