why over voltage relay trip the circuit????

why over voltage relay trip the circuit????

(OP)
we have problem with an over voltage relay when we turn the loads on trhe relay trip the circuit giving over voltage fault can someone help me

RE: why over voltage relay trip the circuit????

Have you checked the calibration of the relay?

RE: why over voltage relay trip the circuit????

I guess the relay is acting as under voltage relay instead. Testing the relay should clear the issue.

Typical Under voltage relay remains pickedup during voltage healthy conditions, dropping off whenever the voltage falls below the set point. Whereas, a typical overvoltage relay remains off during voltage healthy conditions, dropping off when the voltage exceeds the set point. Thus, if the relay is electromechanical type, a look at the relay could throw some light.

Trust the above is helpful.

It sounds like your using the wrong contact. Make sure your using the correct one, N.O. or N.C. Manufacturers often provide both, so read their instructions carefully to verify the correct contact is in the control string.

RE: why over voltage relay trip the circuit????

Sometimes it depends on the load nature, as some will cause fake higher voltage specially if it has a poor power factor.
Use a good meter to check your voltage while you apply load until it trips and know what is really going on
