Non Contact Speed & Length Measurement

Non Contact Speed & Length Measurement

Can anyone help with this. Looking for a sensor that will suit

RE: Non Contact Speed & Length Measurement

I'm sure people can help, but most of us aren't telepathic and you haven't told us anything about the objects or material you want to measure, what accuracy you require, what sensing range, what output, how fast, etc.

Put a bit more information about your application in your next post and I'm sure you'll get a good response.

Scotty Thanks for you reply.

I am trying to measure product that is in a tube form

Speed range 0 - 400 ft/min
Sensing range 100 mm
Accuracy +/- 0.05%

Hopefully you can help

RE: Non Contact Speed & Length Measurement

Hi Kenny,

This is quite fast for a contactless measurement at that accuracy class. I'll post some more questions:

What is the surface finish of the product?
Does the product have any surface markings, or can such markings be added?
Is non-contact vital?
Where does the product finish up? Presumably it eventually is coiled or similar?

I can imagine some parallels with the printing industry, and maybe some transferrable technology, but that is just in my mind's eye. I am probably miles wide of the mark! The more gaps you can fill in about the product and the process, the easier it is for us to visualise your problem.

RE: Non Contact Speed & Length Measurement

and what is the rate at which the product comes?

TTFN

RE: Non Contact Speed & Length Measurement

Kenny:
the 0 ft/min will be difficult to measure with .05% accuracy (+/- 0 ???? )
