V5:loosing planer sufaces when exporting to iges??

V5:loosing planer sufaces when exporting to iges??

(OP)
Does anyone know how to export an Iges without loosing planar surfaces.  When loading an Iges and just saving to a different Iges name, I run an Iges check program that compares the two files, planar surfaces are missing.  Fillet surfaces, holes, wireframe still exist???  I have tried importing the IGES to a CMM program PCDMIS and have the same result.

RE: V5:loosing planer sufaces when exporting to iges??

Is it the same if you import the "new" IGES file back into V5?

The file is complete when I import it back into V5.

Hi,

I am using R12SP4.

I made a pad, extract all surfaces. remode pad. save as IGES.  Open the IGES I have all 6 faces.

Is your file clean an updated before your save as IGES ?

I am opening a customer Iges file,do nothing to it but save back to iges under a different name.  When I use a program used for validating translations called IGES_CHECK, only curved surfaces and wire frame are located in the file I saved.  I opened this file using PCDMIS (cmm software), I see the planar surfaces are gone.  I think it must be a setting or how V5 imports Iges contructs entities, and then exports them again.

RE: V5:loosing planer sufaces when exporting to iges??

Hi,

Did you check the report after the import of the IGES ? where does the IGES comes from ? (edit the file)

in V5 when you open the IGES, can you see those surfaces, can you analyse them, work with them (split, offset).

did you clean the file after the import ?

The iges file comes from our customer which has exported it from Catia V4.

I can work with the surfaces after import.  Since I am trouble shooting I wanted to reduce the number of variables, so I just open it and ssave under a different name.

I have not cleaned the file after opening.  I am not sure exactly what you mean by clean.  I appreciate your help!
