Hi,
 how to find torsion shrear stress for rectangular section
thanx in before

Jhon

RE: torsion shrear stress for rectangular section

max torsional shear stress = Torque / Section Modulus

Q is the equivalent of Zp for circular bars

Tmax = Torque/ Q

Q for a rectangular section is

Q = (bh^2) /  [3 + 1.8 (h/b)]

i hope this helps, good luck

RE: torsion shrear stress for rectangular section

i think it may be important to mention that b is base and h is height

height being the shorter dimension of the rectangle

and

base being the longer dimension
