Type testing of MV breakers

Type testing of MV breakers

Type testing of MV breakers

(OP)
One of the clients' tender specifications says "1no. breaker of each rating shall be type tested inside the cubicle after placing the adjacent panels in position". Placing the adjacent panels in position for the purpose of type testing - is it normal practice? I can see there is some benefit in this arrangement when it comes to Temperature rise testing, then how about Dielectric tests - what is the merit in the said arrangement. May be IEC 60694 (currently IEC62271-Part1)has some thing on this, I need to check.

The switchgear in question is rated 6.6kV.

Could some one please educate me.

Thanks in anticipation.
