Terminating Contract Early

Terminating Contract Early

(OP)
I been contracting with a company through a contract company for about 6 months.  The written contract specifies an open-ended time (as needed basis) and the termination clause provides 2 days notice.  The contract gets "renewed" on a verbal basis with the manager in set month intervals and a purchase order is written.  Is it an accepted industry practice to terminate the contract prior to the verbally agreed contract time?

RE: Terminating Contract Early

In mechanical design, the "employee" is usually free to go at any time.  The contract is between the agency and the employer, not with the individual.  Agencies use the contract to ensure a minimum amount of time on the agency's payroll.

If you are on contract as an individual, you may be S.O.L.
