API STD 607 FIRE RATING

API STD 607 FIRE RATING

API STD 607 FIRE RATING

(OP)
I require information reguarding the API std 607 fire rating pertaining to wellsite separator / metering facilities.
The application involes a actuated ball valve located
inside the separator building.
The actuated ball valve is operating as a ESDV to
fail close.
I would like to know if this valve, because it is operating
as an ESD, must conform to the 607 fire rating or is it
a voluntary guideline that specific companies tend to go by.

RE: API STD 607 FIRE RATING

As you valve is an ESD valve, in a oil facility it must be a fire safe valve, normally closed, it must close under any conditions, and it must conform to API requirements. You do not say where you are operating, but in most countries that is a mandatory requirement and failure to comply could result in the loss of operating licenses or production licenses etc.
