IEEE standards for PLC and SCADA system

IEEE standards for PLC and SCADA system

(OP)
what is IEC standards or codes used for PLC and SCADA system (Hardware and sotware standards)?

RE: IEEE standards for PLC and SCADA system

Hi
IEC standard for PLC - IEC 61131
Also have a look at following site

RE: IEEE standards for PLC and SCADA system

Many industry specific standards exist such as FM 7605, Programmable Logic Control (PLC) Based Burner Management Systems that I have never read.

IEEE covers most of the communication protocols.

IEC 61131 is available in at least eight parts.  IEC established a programming standard for ladder and other logic.  Most manufacturers are compliant.  The design of safety systems should comply the lates ISA 84.00.01 or IEC 61511 or 61508 and include TUV rated components.  The rapid changeing technology is one problem with PLC related codes and standards.  ANSI/ISA–S91.01–1995 is titled  "Identification of Emergency Shutdown Systems and
Controls That Are Critical to Maintaining Safety in Process Industries".  Also check IEC 61131 and 60167 to see if they may apply.

Odd ‘n’ ends…  {Some probably hopelessly archaic}

C37.1-1994 IEEE Standard Definition, Specification and Analysis of Systems Used for Supervisory Control, Data Acquisition, and Automatic Control

999-1992 PDF IEEE Recommended Practice for Master/Remote Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Communications

1613-2003 IEEE Standard Environmental and Testing Requirements for Communications Networking Devices in Electric Power Substations

1267-1999 IEEE Trial Use Guide for Development of Specification for Turnkey Substation Projects

1379-2000 IEEE Recommended Practice for Data Communications Between Remote Terminal Units and Intelligent Electronic Devices in a Substation

Possibly applicable titles:

IEC 60488.1-2004  IEC/IEEE Higher performance protocol for the standard digital interface for programmable instrumentation – Part 1: General
IEC 60488.2-2004 IEC/ IEEE Standard Digital Interface for Programmable Instrumentation--Part 2: Codes, Formats, Protocols, and Common Commands  61588-2004
61588-2004 IEC/IEEE Precision clock synchronization protocol for networked measurement and control systems

There’s also C37.111- and 1159-type standards that somewhat mesh with SCADA in utility settings.
